Dog Training Classes

Dog Training Orientation

The first step towards attending group dog training classes is to attend or view an Orientation. This prerequisite session will provide the information necessary to prepare you for group classes. We will discuss training terms and equipment, dog behavior and socialization, and class structure so that you are able to jump into classes right away.

We offer two versions of the Orientation: in-person and online. The online version can be purchased and viewed immediately so that you can register and begin classes right away. Once purchased you will have 30 days of access so that you can review the material as needed and make sure everyone in the family has had the opportunity to virtually attend the Orientation. Please arrive early to your first class after the online Orientation so that our staff can help you find any leashes, training collars, treats or other training tools that you may need to ensure that you are properly prepared for class. Click here to register for the online Orientation.

The in-person Orientation gives the opportunity to discuss your training goals and ask questions to our trainers and staff. We can also help you purchase toys, leashes, collars, training tools and other recommended items that will help you be successful with your dog at home and when training in class. Adults and children are welcome to attend the in-person Orientation; however, this is a dog free orientation. Having your dog present will make it difficult to give your full attention.

Owners of puppies 6 months old and younger will register for the in-person Orientation here while owners of all dogs over 6 months old will register here for the in-person Orientation.

After attending or viewing the Orientation, puppies under six months will enter into Puppy Classes, and dogs over six months will enter into Level I. The registration fee is $75 for the Orientation and $25 for each Group Class, or you may purchase a Class Pass. Class Passes are “pre-paid” punch cards with 10 punches on them. The cost is $225 which gives you a free class with the purchase of 9 classes. When registering for Orientation the Class Passes are offered at a discounted price of $199. This gives a $51 savings, which is the equivalent of 2 free classes.

Group Dog Training Classes

Group dog training classes provide the unique benefit of socialization with other dogs and people. Our group classes are informative and educational, as well as entertaining for your whole family. Exposing your dog to many new dogs and people, distractions, and environment at an early age will help him become a friendly, well-socialized pet. The fenced in Dog Park is available at a discounted price on the days you attend class, which gives you more opportunity to train and socialize your dog off leash.

All of our classes integrate agility obstacles into the obedience training. This builds cooperation, confidence and trust in both the dog and handler. We incorporate real life situations for your dog to work through. They will learn to behave around children playing, riding bicycles, and bouncing balls. After approximately 15 classes, owners and their dogs are generally ready to graduate to the next class level.

Misty Pines dog training classes are ongoing every week throughout the year. Each class level is scheduled several times every week. After attending Orientation, come for class as often as you need to. We highly suggest to continue coming to classes as your puppy and dog matures and goes through the challenging phases of his life.
