Scent Work Level 2

$30K9 Nose Work is an activity that creates teamwork between a dog and their handler. Olfaction detection of a specific source of an odor is taught to a dog is an amazing accomplishment performed by both a dog and their handler. Multiple levels available.
Level 1 class focuses on the beginning of K9 Nose Work utilizing boxes to teach a dog how to use their amazing tool, their nose, you will learn how to read dogs indicating their FINDS! and how to reward and reinforce this piece of work they are doing for you!
Level 2 class focuses on introducing a particular type of scent that you have selected for your dog. Also establishing a stronger greater search and efficient grid, and how to read dogs more efficiently to a FIND!
Level 3 class focuses on more challenging HIDES and difficult FINDS utilizing only a minuscule amount of selected scent that you have chosen for your dog to FIND!
As each class proceeds your dog will hopefully learn “odor obedience” The term odor obedience means that a dog is irresistibly drawn to target odor, like it is “calling to him, and he has no other option but to respond. This strong work ethic and drive to get to the source of odor will override other distractions. it is an impelling force that is cultivated in the dog by rewarding the dog over and over for going to source.
Level 2 participants should bring an oil or target odor with them. We have provided a list of odors below that are commonly found oils. Misty Pines will provide boxes and Q-tip targets and will have tins available for purchase if you do not have one already.
