Why Teach Sit?
- Consistency: A reliable sit command helps your dog stay calm and controlled, regardless of distractions or locations.
- Ease of Learning: Sit is the most frequently taught behavior to dogs because it's simple and straightforward to teach, reward, and to redirect.
Our canine companions can't distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate behavior on their own—it's just behavior to them. In this class, we'll show you how to teach your dog the most powerful and appropriate behavior: to sit, and to remain stationary (STAY) in that position, no matter what, until you give a cue that they may leave that position (Take a Break).

Final Destination:
A key element of confirming comprehension of a behavior taught is by phasing out food lures. First we practice luring until we are proficient and the dog is focused on our hand signal and verbal cue movements, then we lure with an empty hand. Bingo! Reach in pocket or treat bag to reward or some other type of reward – such as verbal affirmation or a good doggie pet. Vary your types of rewards, distractions and locations.
See you there!
